Donate to HelpSierraBreathe and Put N95 Masks Where the Smoke Is

Every wildfire season, smoke settles over the Sierra Nevada, the Reno-Tahoe area and the valleys below. HelpSierraBreathe turns donations into N95 respirator masks and gets them into the hands of the people breathing that smoke all day: outdoor workers, unhoused neighbors, rural families and anyone who can’t simply stay inside.

Where Your HelpSierraBreathe Donation Goes

Generous donors like you can help us continue our mission of keeping our neighbors safe from the ill effects of wildfire smoke in the Sierra Nevada region. Your donations protect people within the Sierra Nevada region. With your dollars, Mask Oakland is able to buy N95 masks at a bulk discount and ship them to coalition partners who then organize street-level volunteers to give out free masks to their communities. The smoke affects us all, but not everyone has the option to retreat indoors. Your support means we can continue to support those forced to live and work outside in toxic smoke conditions.

  • Bulk N95 purchasing: pooled donations let Mask Oakland buy N95 masks at a bulk discount, so every dollar covers more masks.
  • Shipping to the fire zone: masks go straight to coalition partners in the communities closest to active fires and the heaviest smoke.
  • Street-level distribution: local volunteers hand masks out for free, face to face, to the people who need them most.

HelpSierraBreathe Donations Are Tax-Deductible

All donations are fully tax-deductible. Help Sierra Breathe is a coalition initiative, including Mask Oakland, which is collecting donations into a specific fund that will go to purchase and distribute air protection supplies and support local Help Sierra Breathe members. Mask Oakland is a fiscally sponsored project of Social Good Fund, a California nonprofit corporation and registered 501(c)(3) organization, Tax ID (EIN) 46-1323531. Your receipt and card statement will say “Social Good Fund.”
